AGILENT technologies has launched a tool for streamlining DNA-sequencing research enabling scientists to sequence only genomic areas of interest.
The Agilent SureSelect Target Enrichment System will initially be available to use with the Illumina Genome Analyser system.
The company says it is currently in the process of optimising the platform for the SOLiD system from Applied Biosystems.
The product is designed to capture a subset of exons or other genome targets and wash away the rest of the genome prior to sequencing.
The company believe the platform will reduce sample complexity, allowing researchers to analyse a greater number of samples per study.
The technology requires one tenth the input DNA of other platforms, preserving samples.
