Olympus’ new UIS2 version of its Super 20x water immersion objective is said to deliver enhanced, brighter fluorescence signal collection, higher resolution and easier specimen access than its predecessor.
Its numerical aperture (NA) has been increased to 1.0 for optimal resolution and light gathering ability, while maintaining 2.0mm of working distance for imaging deep into tissue.
The objective has been designed for use with electrophysiology and specialised fluorescence applications. It has an insulative tip design, improved micromanipulator access (31 to 38 degrees) and improved light transmission characteristics, especially in the near infrared (IR) region of the spectrum. The SUPER 20x is designed to look through specimens that are prepared without a coverslip.
