The SOLiD™ 3 Plus System, an enhanced genomic analysis platform is now available from Applied Biosystes, part of the Life Technologies Corporation.
The company claims this genomic analysis platform enables researchers to move one step closer to performing mainstream sequencing of personal genomes for clinical research and personalised medicine.
Technical enhancements to SOLiD 3 Plus include higher throughput, decreased run costs, and faster data analysis. The company claims the system is capable of generating more than 60 gigabases of mappable sequence data per run, at a 20% lower cost per sequencing run than previously possible. It is said to be ideal for large-scale resequencing genomic projects.
A software solution, BioScope™, has been introduced to provide an integrated framework for data analysis, allowing smaller data file sizes. BioScope is said to enable researchers to export data into a standard base sequence format, to allow them to combine data from multiple sequencing platforms into a single project-based analysis, and make direct comparisons of data from multiple sequencing platforms.
