Nikon’s nano crystal coating sharpens images

10 November 2009 Print this article Comments Share this article

Nikon has launched the highest-ever numerical apertures for water immersion objectives. The objectives also have an extra low refractive index nano crystal coating to provide high transmission at a broad range of wavelengths.

Nikon claims this combination results in high contrast image acquisition with faster image capture times at lower excitation levels.  These features achieve less photobleaching and minimise damage to live cells, allowing longer-term observation.
